"Classy Sassy" - PTU Tutorial


This tutorial was written on Friday, May 25th 2012 by Mystery Designs. It was written in PSP X2 and assumes a good, working knowledge of the program. **Supplies Needed**

Tube of choice. I'm using a fabulous tube by Xeracx and you can purchase it over at his store here

Scrapkit of choice. I'm using a fab PTU kit by Karra's Kreative Korner called “Friends Forever : Jackie” You can purchase it over at the Artistic Reality Talent store here

Mask of choice. I'm using a freebie by Designs by Vaybs (Mask 40) which you can collect here

Ready? Lets begin.....

Open up your tube
Press shift+d to duplicate
Close the original

Open up a new image – 650 x 650 pixels

Open up “KK_film strip” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “Film1

Image – Free Rotate – Left – 15 Degrees


Arrange it toward the top of your tag


Layers – Duplicate and rename “Film2

Image – Flip

Arrange so it overlaps the previous film strip slightly on the left-hand side



Highlight your “Film1” layer

Grab your Magic Wand tool with these settings :



Select inside all the film cells

Selections – Modify – Expand – 4 Pixels

Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “Film1inside

Open up “Kkpaper5” from the kit

Copy – Paste – Into Selection

Selections – None

Layers – Arrange – Move Down

Highlight your “Film2” layer

Grab your Magic Wand tool again

Select inside all the film cells

Selections – Modify – Expand – 4 Pixels

Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “Film2inside

Grab “Kkpaper5” again

Copy – Paste – Into Selection


Selections – None


Layers – Arrange – Move Down

Highlight your “Film1” layer again

Grab your Magic Wand tool and select the first cell on the left

Selections – Modify – Expand – 4 Pixels

Copy – Paste your tube as new layer and rename “Tube1

Arrange over the selection until you are happy

Selections – Invert and hit delete

Selections – Select All

Image – Crop To Selection

Layers – Arrange – Move Down

Change the Blend Mode of this layer to “Luminance Legacy” and lower the opacity to around 76%

Highlight your “Film1” layer

Grab your Magic Wand tool and select the middle cell

Selections – Modify – Expand – 4 Pixels

Copy – Paste your tube as new layer and rename “Tube2

Arrange over the selection

Selections – Invert and hit delete

Selections – Select All

Image – Crop To Selection

Layers – Arrange – Move Down

Change the Blend Mode of this layer to “Luminance Legacy” and lower the opacity to around 91%

Highlight your “Film1” layer

Grab your Magic Wand tool and select the end cell on the right

Selections – Modify – Expand – 4 Pixels

Copy – Paste your tube as new layer and rename “Tube3

Arrange over the selection

Selections – Invert and hit delete

Selections – Select All

Image – Crop To Selection

Layers – Arrange – Move Down

Change the Blend Mode of this layer to “Luminance Legacy” and lower the opacity to around 68%

Highlight your “Film2” layer

Grab your Magic Wand tool and select the first cell on the left

Selections – Modify – Expand – 4 Pixels

Copy – Paste your tube as new layer and rename “Tube4

Arrange over the selection

Selections – Invert and hit delete

Selections – Select All

Image – Crop To Selection

Layers – Arrange – Move Down

Change the Blend Mode of this layer to “Luminance Legacy” and lower the opacity to around 78%

Highlight your “Film2” layer

Grab your Magic Wand tool and select the middle cell

Selections – Modify – Expand – 4 Pixels

Copy – Paste your tube as new layer and rename “Tube5

Arrange over the selection

Selections – Invert and hit delete

Selections – Select All

Image – Crop To Selection

Layers – Arrange – Move Down

Change the Blend Mode of this layer to “Luminance Legacy” and lower the opacity to around 76%

Highlight your “Film2” layer

Grab your Magic Wand tool and select the end cell on the right

Selections – Modify – Expand – 4 Pixels

Copy – Paste your tube as new layer and rename “Tube6

Arrange over the selection

Selections – Invert and hit delete

Selections – Select All

Image – Crop To Selection

Layers – Arrange – Move Down

Change the Blend Mode of this layer to “Luminance Legacy” and lower the opacity to around 85%

Highlight your “Film1inside” layer

Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat

Open up “KK_sparkles” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “Sparkles1

Arrange them over the film cells until you are happy

Selections – Invert and hit delete

Selections – None

Move this layer up so that it is just below your “Film1” layer in your Layer Palette

Highlight your “Film2inside” layer

Selections – Select All – Float - Defloat


Grab “KK_sparkles” again from the kit

Press shift +d to duplicate it and close the original

Image – Flip

Copy – Paste over onto your tag as a New Layer and rename “Sparkles2

Arrange over the selected area

Selections – Invert and hit delete


Selections – None


Move this layer up so that it is below your “Film2” layer in your Layer Palette

Highlight your “Tube3” layer

Open up “KK_kiss” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “Kiss

Image – Resize – 50%

Arrange it over in the top middle cell

Change the Blend Mode to “Hard Light” and lower the opacity to around 46

Highlight “Film1” layer and add a drop shadow

Highlight “Film2” layer and add a drop shadow

Open up “KK_bow1” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “Bow1

Image – Resize – 50%

Arrange over to the left where the two film strip's overlap

Add a drop shadow

Open up “KK_lable1” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “Label1

Image – Resize – 50%

Image – Free Rotate – Left 15 Degrees

Arrange over towards the right of your tag along the bottom edge of the top film strip

Add a drop shadow

Open up “KK_Lable2” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “Label2”

Image – Resize – 50%

Image – Free Rotate – Right 15 Degrees

Arrange over towards the right of your tag along the top edge of the bottom film strip

Add a drop shadow

Open up “KK_ribbon” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “Ribbon

Image – Resize – 50%

Arrange over the top edge of the classy label (“Label1”)

Add a drop shadow

Open up “KK_crystal curtain” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “Curtain

Arrange over to the right of your tag (see mine for guidance)

Once happy with the placement move this layer down in your Layer Palette until it is below your “Film1inside” layer

Add a drop shadow

Highlight your “Ribbon” layer

Open up “KK_flower2” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “Flower1

Image – Resize – 50%


Arrange along the bottom-right of your tag


Add a drop shadow

Open up “KK_flower1” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “Flower2

Image – Resize – 50%


Arrange along the bottom-right of your tag so it overlaps the previous flower slightly



Add a drop shadow


Open up “KK_lipstick” from the kit


Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “Lipstick


Image – Resize – 35%


Arrange over by the two flowers that have just been placed along the bottom-right of your tag


Add a drop shadow

Open up “KK_diamond” from the kit


Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “Diamond1


Image – Resize – 20%

Arrange along the bottom-right of your tag in front of your flowers

Add a drop shadow

Layers – Duplicate and rename “Diamond2

Move over to the right slightly so that it overlaps diamond 1

Layers – Duplicate and rename “Diamond3


Move over to the right slightly so that it overlaps diamond 2


Copy – Paste your tube As New Layer and rename “MainTube

Add a drop shadow

Highlight your “Raster1” layer

Change your foreground and background to two colours that compliment your tag. I am using #4899de and #592170

Change your background to gradient with these settings :



Grab your Floodfill Tool and fill your layer with the new gradient

Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load From Disk and choose “DBV Mask40” with these settings :



**If you would like to resize your tag, now is the time to do so**

Add your name and all copyrights.
Save your finished tag and you’re done!
