"Burnt Orange" - Tutorial (No Scraps)



This tutorial was written on Tuesday 6th November 2012 by Mystery Designs. It was written in PSP X2 and assumes a good, working knowledge of the program. **Supplies Needed**

Tube of choice – I'm using one by Scott See which you can purchase HERE

Template – “SpawnsFSTemplates059” which you can download HERE

Texture - “Texture001” by ARTPLUS LOVE which you can download HERE

Wordart - “HotNSexySpazzWordArt-2” which you can download from the Creative Misfits blog HERE

Font Used – Mirella Script


**Plugins**

DSB Flux – Bright Noise (optional, as the noise filter built into PSP will also work here)


Open your tube
Shift+d to duplicate
Close the original
Minimize for the moment

Open the template
Shift+d to duplicate
Close the original
Delete layer “Credits”


@@ To Make The Main Tag @@

On the template highlight layer “Main Background”

Change your Foreground to a dark colour from your tube, I am using #c01901

Change your Background to a lighter colour from your tube, I am using #feb062

Change your Background to Gradient – Foreground/Background with these settings :



Grab your Floodfill Tool and fill this layer with the newly created gradient

Highlight layer “Black Angled Lines”

Adjust – Brightness and Contrast – Brightness/Contrast

Brightness = 98
Contrast = 10

Grab your Change To Target Brush

Using your gradient, re-colour the lines

Effects – Plugins – DSB Flux – Bright Noise with these settings :



Add a drop shadow

Change the Blend Mode to “Screen”

Highlight layer “Grey Angled Lines”

Adjust – Brightness and Contrast – Brightness/Contrast

Brightness = 98
Contrast = 10

Change your Background back to Colour (#feb062) and re-colour the lines

Effects – Plugins – DSB Flux – Bright Noise

Use the same settings from before

Add a drop shadow

Change the Blend Mode to “Hard Light”

Highlight layer “Grey Foreground”


Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat


Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “middle”

Change your Background to gradient again, still using the same colours from earlier only with these settings :



Grab your Floodfill Tool and fill your selection

Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “texture”

Open up the texture you have chosen

Copy – Paste – Into Selection

Change the Blend Mode to “Hard Light”

Lower the Opacity to around 56

**Do Not Deselect**



Grab your tube


Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “tube1”



Selections – Invert


Hit delete

Change the Blend Mode to “Overlay”

Selections – Invert

Open up your wordart


Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “wordart”


Arrange it over your selection until happy. (If there is any overhang, repeat the invert and delete to remove it)

Selections – None

Change the Blend Mode to “Overlay”

Delete layer “Grey Foreground”

Highlight layer “middle”

Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat

Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “middle border”

Selections – Modify – Expand – 4 pixels

Floodfill with your Foreground colour #c01901

Selections – Modify – Contract – 10 pixels

Hit delete

Selections – None

Adjust – Add/Remove Noise – Add Noise with these settings :



Adjust – Sharpness – Sharpen

Add a drop shadow

Drag this layer up in your Layer Palette so that it is above your “wordart” layer

Grab your tube again

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “main tube1”

Arrange it over on the right-hand side of your tag

Once happy with the placement

Layers – Duplicate and rename “main tube2”

Change the Blend Mode to “Hard Light”


Highlight layer “main tube1”


Add a drop shadow

Highlight layer “Border”

Adjust – Brightness and Contrast – Brightness/Contrast

Brightness = -255
Contrast = 10

Adjust – Add/Remove Noise – Add Noise

Use the previous settings

Adjust – Sharpness – Sharpen

Add a drop shadow

Save your tag but don't close it or add names etc. just yet

@@ To Make The Avatar @@

Open a new image 150 x 150 pixels

On your main tag highlight layer “Main Background”

Copy

Back on your avatar

Paste – As New Layer and rename “background”

On your main tag, highlight layer “texture”

Copy

Back on your avatar

Paste – As New Layer and rename “texture”

Grab your tube again

On your avatar

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “tube1”

Lower the Opacity to around 47

Layers – Duplicate and rename “tube2”


Raise the Opacity back to 100



Change the Blend Mode to “Hard Light”


Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “Border”

Selections – Select All


Selections – Modify – Selection Border with these settings :




Change your Foreground colour to black #000000

Fill the selection

Selections – None

Adjust – Add/Remove Noise


Add Noise using the previous settings again


Adjust – Sharpness – Sharpen

Add a drop shadow

At this point, add your name and all copyrights to both your tag and avatar.
Save your finished tags and you’re done!

Here is a variation, using a different artist and colour scheme :)
